Where the Myers’ cocktail came from
It’s named after Dr. John Myers, a Baltimore physician who gave vitamin and mineral infusions to his patients for decades. Dr. Alan Gaby later wrote up the formula, and it became the best-known IV vitamin drip in the country.
People book it when they’re run down, getting over a cold, heading into a hard week, or just behind on fluids.
What the research says
Honestly, not much. The best-known study, a small 2009 trial in people with fibromyalgia, found both the Myers’ group and the placebo group improved, with no clear difference between them.
What an IV does reliably is rehydrate you fast and deliver vitamins straight to your bloodstream. Many people feel better afterward. We won’t promise more than that. See the full IV menu or read IV nutrition vs. oral supplements.
Myers’ cocktail questions
What’s in a Myers’ cocktail?
The classic version is magnesium, calcium, B vitamins and vitamin C in IV fluids. Our Gold Standard is an improved version: IV fluids with a balanced blend of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C.
How long does it take?
About 30 to 60 minutes in the chair.
Does it work?
Many people feel better after one, especially when they’re run down or dehydrated. The research is thin, though. A small 2009 clinical trial in fibromyalgia found people improved on both the Myers’ drip and a placebo drip, with no clear difference between them. We’d rather tell you that than oversell it.
Myers’ or The Essentials?
The Essentials ($250) adds glutathione, our most popular upgrade. The Gold Standard ($200) is the classic, simpler blend.
Who shouldn’t get one?
People with kidney disease, certain heart conditions or fluid retention may not be candidates. Everyone gets a quick health review first.
